Acceptable Use Policy
Reminist
Effective date: November 6, 2026 · Last updated: October 7, 2026
This policy is part of the Terms of Service and applies to everyone who uses Reminist, operated by Tauf Life Consulting, LLC.
Reminist is a place for people to record the stories of their lives and invite the people in those stories to add their side. Most of what happens here is private, between a small number of people who already know each other. This policy exists for the times when that goes wrong.
What is not allowed
Content that is unlawful or harmful
- Anything illegal where you or the recipient are located.
- Child sexual abuse material, or any sexualised content involving a minor. We report this to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and to law enforcement, and we terminate the account immediately and permanently.
- Content that promotes, incites, or threatens violence against anyone.
- Content encouraging suicide, self-harm, or disordered eating.
- Content promoting terrorism or violent extremism.
Harassment and abuse
- Harassing, bullying, stalking, or intimidating another person.
- Hate speech, or attacking someone on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, disease, age, sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
- Threatening someone, or publishing their private information without permission (“doxxing”).
- Using an invitation, a contribution, or a Trusted Contact notification to contact someone who does not want to hear from you.
Other people’s privacy
Reminist is unusual in that a story often involves someone else. That makes this section the one most likely to matter to you:
- Do not upload a recording of another person without their permission. Reminist is designed for each person to record themselves.
- Do not share someone else’s private information — medical details, financial details, addresses, or anything told to you in confidence — without their agreement.
- Do not upload intimate images of anyone, and never of someone who has not consented.
- Respect the recording-consent laws where you live. Some places require everyone recorded to agree.
Impersonation and deception
- Do not pretend to be someone else, or misrepresent your connection to a person or organisation.
- Do not use a Trusted Contact designation to mislead someone about your relationship to them.
- Do not use Reminist for scams, phishing, fraud, or to solicit money under false pretences.
Intellectual property
- Do not upload content you do not have the right to upload — copyrighted music, recordings, images, or writing that is not yours to share.
- If you believe something on Reminist infringes your copyright, email a copyright notice as described in §12.3 of the Terms. Copyright claims follow that process rather than the in-app report button. Accounts that repeatedly infringe are closed (Terms §12.5).
Misuse of the service
- Do not attempt to access another person’s account or content.
- Do not probe, scan, or test the security of our systems, or interfere with them.
- Do not reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract source from the app.
- Do not use bots, scrapers, or automation to access Reminist.
- Do not resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit access to Reminist.
- Do not use Reminist to send spam or bulk unsolicited invitations.
- Do not deliberately overload the service, or use it in a way that degrades it for others.
Commercial and bulk use
Reminist is for personal and family use. It is not a platform for advertising, political campaigning, or distributing commercial content to a list of people.
Reporting a problem
If you see something that breaks this policy:
- In the app, open the story or contribution, tap the ⋮ menu, and choose Report this story (or Report this contribution).
- Block a user from the People tab to stop them reaching you.
- Email us at support@reminist.app for anything urgent, or anything the in-app tools do not cover.
Tell us what you saw and where. If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first — we cannot provide emergency help.
What we do about reports
We review every report we receive. Depending on what we find, we may:
- leave the content in place, if it does not breach this policy;
- remove the content;
- restrict an account’s features;
- suspend an account temporarily;
- terminate an account permanently;
- preserve information and report it to law enforcement, where the law requires or where someone is at risk.
We aim to review reports within 72 hours, and faster where there is a risk of harm. We are a very small team, and we will tell you if something takes longer.
If we act on your content, we will let you know what happened and why, where it is practical and lawful to do so. If you think we got it wrong, reply to us at support@reminist.app — a person will read it. We would rather correct a mistake than defend one.
Blocking is not reporting. Blocking someone is private, immediate, and requires no explanation from you. Use it whenever you want, for any reason; you do not need us to agree.
A note on hard stories
Reminist is often used to record illness, loss, addiction, estrangement, war, and death. Difficult subject matter is not a violation of this policy — it is much of the reason this product exists. We draw the line at content that harms a person, not at content that is painful to hear.
If a story about you has been shared without your consent, contact support@reminist.app and we will look into it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy at any time. Changes follow §14 of the Terms: material changes are versioned and you will be asked to accept them in the app; other changes take effect when posted, with the “Last updated” date revised.
